In her varied and extensive repertoire Ms. Hierholzer holds a special fondness to the music of both Clara and Robert Schumann.
It is generally known that Clara Schumann wrote a piano concerto in
A Minor op. 7, which is a demanding virtuoso piece.
However, little is known about her 2nd piano concerto, which unfortunately remained unfinished.
In 1847 Clara had started this 2nd concerto and dedicated the manuscript as a birthday present "to my beloved Robert on the 8th of June 1847 from his Clara". It is in F Minor and stands as a single movement, completed and orchestrated by Jozef De Beenhouwer. From a musical standpoint it is a much more interesting and mature piece in.that the orchestra is not just merely accompanying the piano but has a significant part.
